Abstract
The objectives of this research are to find the existence of effect and effectiveness of suggestopedia method for teaching speaking at seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Gedangan. The method used in this research was pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-test design. The subject of this research was students of 7 E class where they were given pre-test, treatment, and post-test. After collecting the data, the researcher calculated and analyzed the result of pre-test and post-test. T-test was used to find the existence of effect of suggestopedia method. The result of tvalue is 24,29 and ttable with degree of freedom 35 and level of significance 5% is 2,03. So tvalue > ttable. While eta-squared was used to find the effectiveness of suggestopedia method. The calculation showed that the value of eta-squared is 0,94 which means significant or large effect. Based on the data analysis, it was proved the treatment by using suggestopedia method could give an effect to the students’ speaking ability and the effect was significant or large.
