Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find whether there is effect in teaching writing procedure text for 7th grade students of SMP Al-Fattah Buduran Sidoarjo after being taught using video as media. In this case, the researcher used quantitative method. The subject of this research is 7D of SMP Al-Fattah which consisted of 26 students. The researcher divides activity into pre-test, treatment, and post-test. Based on the statistical calculation from mean result of pre-test is 69.07 and the result of post-test is 83, the students’ score is increasing after given the treatment. The researcher used ttest to calculate the data and to test the hypothesis. The result of the calculation of this research is t-test is higher than t-table. Here, the t-test is 6.163 and the t-table is 1.699 with degree of freedom 51 and level of significance 5%. It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. From the result of data analysis above, the use of video as media gives significant effect especially in students’ writing procedure text.
