Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know whether there is a significant effect at the tenth grade of SMK YPM 11 Wonoayu-Sidoarjo in writing skill of narrative text before and after being taught using The Power of Two strategy or not. The research uses pre-experimental design. The subject in this research is X-Akuntansi-2 of SMK YPM 11 Wonoayu-Sidoarjo which consists of 41 students. There are three main activities during this research. These are pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The mean result of pre-test is 60.76, and 74.56 is the result of post-test. From the explanation above, the students’ score is rising after being given a treatment. The researcher uses t-test to calculate the data and to test the hypothesis. The result of t-test is 1.721 and the result of t-table is 1.684 with the degree of significance 5% (0.05) and the degree of freedom is 40 (1.684). It can be known that t-test is higher than t-table. It is said that the alternative hypothesis (H_a) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H_o) is rejected. It is decided that there is a significant effect of using The Power of Two strategy in teaching writing skill through narrative text.
