Abstract
This study aimed to examine the effect of digital addiction on the sleep quality and sports performance of athletes at the university level. The research was quantitative in nature and used a cross-sectional design with the study population consisting of university athletes. Data were gathered by using a self-administered questionnaire. Pearson’s correlation analysis, and linear regression analysis employed to find out the results. The results showed a significant negative relationship between digital addiction and both the quality of sleep and the level of sports performance. According to Pearson correlation analysis, the results were statistically significant at p < 0.05. Furthermore, the results of the regression analysis also confirmed that digital addiction had a significant negative effect on the sleep quality and sports performance of athletes, showing that higher levels of digital addiction were also associated with worse outcomes in these areas. Based on these results, it is recommended that awareness programs and digital usage management strategies must be introduced for athletes to help minimize excessive digital engagement and encourage healthier sleep and performance patterns.
