Abstract

The internalization of character values in the learning process is very important so that the goal of education can be realized, namely making students noble. One of the character values that must exist in every student is independent character. This research is a descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, and documentation. The final stage is data analysis by collecting data, condensing data, presenting data, drawing conclusions or verifying data. The purpose of this research is to find out how the process of internalizing independent character values in the school environment and how the process of internalizing these values can be meaningful for students in everyday life, as well as the inhibiting and supporting factors of the internalization process. The results show that the internalization of independent character values is shown by the attitude of students who are brave and confident, responsible, disciplined, able to make decisions, complete their own tasks and are manifested in various extracurricular activities.
