Abstract
Abstract. The government and all stakeholders are determined to make Indonesia a world food source starting from the 2040-2050 period, including for horticultural crop commodities. Several types of horticultural crops in Indonesia often cause social unrest when there is an imbalance between demand and supply. One of the factors that most threatens crop production is the disturbance of pests and pathogens that cause disease which have an impact on food security, inflation, and often cause social vulnerability. Meanwhile, the use of toxic synthetic chemical pesticides is still high in intensity and has been proven to reduce soil fertility, pollute the environment, increase the resistance of plant-disturbing organisms, destroy natural enemies, and can cause health problems for farmers and the community around the plantations. In addition to using good seeds, improving agronomic technology, as well as using biological agents to protect plant health and productivity, it is urgent to use and integrate their implementation to increase production and maintain food security, especially in horticultural crop commodities that have strategic value now and in the future. Abstrak. Pemerintah dan segenap pemangku kepentingan sudah bertekad mewujudkan Indenesia sebagai sumber pangan dunia mulai periode 2040-2050 termasuk pada komoditas tanaman hortikultur,. Beberapa jenis tanaman horikultur di Indonesia sering menimbulkan gejolak sosial ketika terjadi ketidak-seimbangan antara permintaan dan suplai. Salah satu faktor yang paling mengancam produksi tanaman adalah gangguan hama dan pathogen penyebab penyakit yang berdampak pada gangguan ketahanan pangan, inflasi, serta sering menimbulkan kerawanan sosial. Sementara itu selama ini penggunaan pestisida kimia sintetik toksik masih tinggi intensitasnya serta terbukti menurunkan kesuburan tanah, pencemaran lingkungan, peningkatan resistensi organisme pengganggu tanaman, musnahnya musuh alami, serta dapat menimbulkan gangguan bagi kesehatan petani dan masyarakat di sekitar pertanaman. Selain penggunaan bibit yang baik, perbaikan teknologi agronomi, serta pemanfaatan agen hayati bagi perlindungan kesehatan dan produktivitas tanaman sangat mendesak untuk digunakan dan diintegrasikan impelementasinya bagi peningkatan produksi dan menjaga ketahanan pangan khususnya pada komoditas tanaman hortikultur yang memiliki nilai strategis saat ini dan di masa mendatang.
