Abstract

Abstract. This research was conducted to test the effectiveness of antibacterial inhibition of galangal (Alpinia galanga L.) on the growth of Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis bacteria with concentration 0%, 15%, 30%, 45%, 60%, 75%, 90%, 100 %. The method used in this study with the Kirby-bauer disc diffusion method. 0% concentration as negative control. The results showed that galangal (Alpinia galanga L.) at 100% concentration had the highest inhibition area in Bacillus subtilis (1,13 mm) and E. coli (0,8 mm). Galangal has more effective antibacterial activity in Bacillus subtilis bacteria than E. coli. Keywords : galangal, Bacillus subtilis, E. coli.
