Abstract
This research aims to find the Critical Discourse Analysis(CDA) and the use of textual analysis in the writing of news about the Rohingya crisis published by CNN News. The news is growing up to the whole world. Therefore, this research analyses the context of news based on the theory of Critical Discourse Analysis(CDA) by Van Dijk is more closely to the three elements of textual analysis. This is a qualitative descriptive study, where the researcher read news article within a period of November 26th, 2017 - December 2th, 2017 and get three news articles then classify all data through three elements namely, macrostructure, superstructure and microstructure. Furthermore, the findings were triangulation with one of Critical Discourse Analysis(CDA) theory by Fairclough to support findings and avoid subjectivity. Through analysis of the researchers did, that news coverage about the Rohingya crisis shows religious sentiments which have an impact on the pressure between the Buddhist and Muslim in Myanmar. On the annunciation of the Rohingya crisis, not just preached about the condition of Muslims Rohingya but also many additions of meanings that support over the influence of religion between Islam and Buddhism towards the Myanmar’s government. Word choice and composition in the news scheme can support these findings be the reason that the Rohingya crisis still unresolved.
