Abstract
The purpose of this research is to find out there is an effect of Total Physical Response (TPR) method for teaching english vocabulary for the students in the first grade at SDIT El-Haq. The researcher uses quantitative method. The subject in this research is 1-A grade of SDIT El-Haq which consist of 30 students. There are three main activities during this research. They are pre-test, treatment, and the post-test. based on t-test statistical analysis, the mean resrult of pre-test is 81.07, and 96.05 for the result of post-test. from the explanantion above, the students score is increasing after given a treatment. In this research, the researcher used t-test to calcullate the data. The result of the calculation is t-test is higher than t-table. In other side, the researcher uses t-test to know about the hypothesis. The result of t_test computation in this reserach is 1.813. Then, the result of the the t_table is 1,672 with degree of freedom 58 and significance 5%.T-test result is showed higher than t-table. It means that the alternative hypothesis (H_a) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H_0) is rejected. In conculsion, the use of TPR method gives an effect in teaching English vocabulary.
