Abstract
This research has a purpose to find out whether there is effect of using snakes and ladders game in teaching vocabulary. The research was conducted at SDN Jimbaran Kulon Wonoayu Sidoarjo. The sample of the research is the students in 5A and 5B classes. There are experimental and control classes. 5B is the experimental class and the control class is 5A. The method is quantitative method with true-experimental design. To get the data, the researcher gave pre-test, treatment and post-test to the students. The researcher used snakes and ladders game as a media in teaching vocabulary about names of occupation for experimental class (5B). Based on the result of the research, tt can be known that the result of t-test (2.67) is higher than t-table (1.66). Thus, Null hypothesis is rejected and alternative hypothesis is accepted. There is effect of using snakes and ladders game in teaching vocabulary. In conclusion, snakes and ladders game can be an alternative media in teaching vocabulary and help to solve the students’ problem.
