Abstract

The purpose of conducting the research is to find out the significant effect in students reading comprehension achievement in eight grade at SMPN 4 Sidoarjo before and after being learned using Ali Baba and The 40 Thieves. The reseracher used quantitative method to collecting data. Students as the subject of this research was 8-C grade of SMPN 4 Sidoarjo which consisted of 36 students. To collected data, the researcher divide an activity into pre-test, treatment, and post-test. Based on calculation from mean result of pre-test is 63.9 and the result from mean of post-test is 91.8. The post-test score is higher than pre-test, because the students been done applied the treatment. The result of calculation by analyzing the data is obtained the value of the t observation (t_0) is 1.09 the degree of freedom (df) is 35. According the hypotesis H_1, there is a significant difference of student before and after using Ali Baba and The 40 Thieves.
