Abstract
The purposes of this study are to find out whether there is an improvement between students writing skill of narrative text at the tenth grade of SMK AL- ISLAM KRIAN before and after being taught by using fairy tale film and to know how the criteria level of students’ improvement in writing skill before and after being taught by using fairy tale film is. This research uses pre-experimental design. The research is conducted at SMA AL-ISLAM KRIAN. The object of this research is the tenth grade of SMA AL-ISLAM KRIAN. Total population of the tenth grade are 255 students. The sample is X Mipa 3 which consists of 30 students. The researcher uses mean of students score to make sure that there is an improvement in using fairytale film in writing narrative text and also N-Gain is used to know the improvement of students’ criteria level. The mean result of pre- test is 50.33 and the mean result of post-test is 74.66. The result of N-Gain score is 0.468. It means that the score is “average”. From the result, the students’ score is increased after being given a treatment. It means that using fairy tale film as a media can improve students’ writing skill.
