Abstract
Language plays an important role in build news. The journalist style, background company and even mass media vision and mission influence the news. VOA which is the abbreviation of Voice of America stands as the largest U.S international broadcaster since 1942, and bravely served the information with a consistent message of truth, hope and inspiration. Rohingya case was concerned as the serious problem in the world. Discourse analysis of the news about Rohingya case in VOA news website article is important to do because Rohingya case contains many topics which conical into humanitarian crisis that brings readers prespective after read the news about Rohingya case. The aim of conducting this study is to find out the discourse that shaped by VOA journalist on Rohingya case about humanitarian crisis. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The media that used in this study is some articles about humanitarian crisis of Rohingya case in VOA news website article. In this research, the analysis through critical discourse analysis was analyzed the textual element by using Van Dijk’s model. The textual element of Van Dijk’s model analyzed macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure of Rohingya news in VOA news website. The result of the analysis of macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure showed that there is discourse shaped on Rohingya case in VOA news website article that was persuading and calling the readers to support the effort for ending the violation and re-enforcing human rights law for victims in Rakhine.
