Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe whether there is improvement of writing skill in teaching narrative text for tenth grade at SMK Walisongo 1 Gempol by using cartoon films. The method of the research is an experimental study. The data were obtained by giving test to the experiment class (X APK 2) the class which taught by using cartoon films, and control class (X APK 1) the class which taught by did not using cartoon films. The instruments used to collect the data were documentation and test. The documentation was used to get the data of students’ name, syllabus, lesson plan, etc. Test was used to know students’ competence before and after the experiment run. There were two kinds of test. They were pre-test and post-test. After the data were collected, the researcher analyzed it. The analysis data was from posttest score of control class and experimental class. It used to prove the truth of hypothesis that has planed. The result of the research: the mean score of experiment class higher than the mean control class (80.1 > 72.8) and the t-test result showed the value of t-test is higher than the value of t-table. The value of t-test was 5.670 while the value of t-table on α = 5% was 1.669. It meant that the hypothesis of this research was accepted
