Abstract

In teaching and learning process it is needed a media to support the success of learning process. In this research the researcher used big book as a media in this experiment. Big book can help the students get the vocabulary with reading. The students are more interesting in reading by this media. The researcher used pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-test design. In this research the researcher focused on third grades in SDN Kendal Pecabean that consist of 30 student in the class. The activity include pre-test, 2 times of treatment with different topics, and post-test. After collecting the data, the researcher calculate and analysis the all of data instrument. To know the significant effect, the researcher compare the result of pre-test and post-test. The result of both of test is for pre-test 73,33 and for post-test 91,66. the calculation showed that there is increasing score before and after giving the treatment using big book. It can investigate that big book has significant effect for student in understanding the material.
