Abstract

This study discusses the effectiveness of numbered head technique in speaking skill. This research aims to know the effectiveness of numbered head together technique at seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Tanggulangin in the academic year 2017/2018. The background of this research has been conducted on seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Tanggulangin who have problems to understanding the English learning in speaking skills, most of the students lacking attention and less interesting in learning speaking skill, their comprehension could be seen from the way they are speaking. This research used Quantitative method and used true-experimental research design where the results obtained from two classes; experimental class and control class as sample. Class VII-3 as experimental class while VII-1 as control class. The data got from pre-test and post-test score were calculated by using T-test formula with help SPSS version 16. The result of t-test was higher than t-table (3.747 > 1.995). Based on the result it can concluded if there is an significant effectiveness of numbered head together technique in speaking skill at seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Tanggulangin.
