Abstract

This article examines how Uzbekistan's insurance sector can build a secure digital ecosystem amid growing competition from InsurTech firms. Drawing on international experience and recent studies, it explains why digital transformation has become a condition of competitiveness and sustainability for insurers, particularly in streamlining underwriting and claims management and improving customer experience. The article reviews existing digital insurance platforms and services and highlights lessons from cases such as Dajia Insurance and S Insurance Group. It identifies the main obstacles to InsurTech adoption in Uzbekistan, including outdated legacy systems, limited investment capacity, obsolete regulatory frameworks, cultural barriers, and low public awareness of insurance products. Special attention is given to cybersecurity, customer data protection, and the alignment of national privacy regulation with global digital-economy trends. On this basis, the article proposes a roadmap combining strategic and transformational leadership, partnerships with technology providers and regulators, risk-management frameworks, staff training, and cooperation with educational institutions. The study concludes that a structured and secure approach to digitalisation can accelerate service delivery, enhance operational efficiency, and foster a more dynamic and trustworthy insurance market in Uzbekistan.
