Abstract

This study develops a methodological framework for assessing the impact of transport system efficiency on sustainable macroeconomic growth and illustrates its application using evidence from Uzbekistan. Amid the ongoing reconfiguration of global supply chains and the growing emphasis on sustainability, transport efficiency assessment increasingly requires a multi-dimensional approach that jointly captures economic contribution, logistics performance, trade facilitation, and environmental sustainability, yet most existing methodologies evaluate these dimensions in isolation. The paper systematizes the theoretical literature linking transport infrastructure and logistics performance to economic growth, reviews integrated and composite assessment methodologies developed in recent international scholarship, and proposes a four-dimensional Transport-Growth Impact Index adapted to the conditions of a landlocked, transition economy. The study combines a qualitative-analytical research design with an empirical illustration based on Uzbekistan's World Bank Logistics Performance Index scores for 2018 and 2023 and the compound annual growth rates of transport and macroeconomic indicators for 2016-2024.
