Abstract

The rapid advancement of globalization, the digital economy, and the widespread integration of sustainable development principles into international investment policy are shaping new approaches to the management of foreign direct investment (FDI). Digital transformation plays a crucial role in enhancing the transparency of investment processes, reducing administrative costs, improving the efficiency of investment decision-making, and elevating the level of interaction between governments and investors. At the same time, the integration of sustainable development principles, particularly Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria, into investment policy is increasingly recognized as a key prerequisite for ensuring long-term economic sustainability. This article examines the theoretical and practical foundations for improving the digital and sustainable management model of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Uzbekistan. It analyzes the impact of ongoing reforms aimed at improving the investment climate, digitalizing public administration, and enhancing the quality of services provided to investors on the country's investment management system. Furthermore, the study substantiates the priority areas for the effective application of digital platforms, e-government services, data exchange systems, artificial intelligence technologies, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in the management of foreign direct investment. The study proposes an improved conceptual model for the management of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Uzbekistan that integrates digital technologies, institutional efficiency, and sustainable development principles. The proposed model is designed to enhance the openness and transparency of investment processes, improve the quality of investment governance, strengthen investor confidence, reduce investment risks, and increase the country's international investment competitiveness. The scientific findings and practical recommendations presented in this study may serve as a valuable basis for improving the investment policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, fostering government–investor cooperation in the context of the digital economy, and enhancing the mechanisms for the effective management of foreign direct investment.
