Abstract

As data becomes the backbone of modern enterprises, the design of database schemas must evolve beyond performance and scalability to address the growing complexity of global regulatory compliance. Regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, and CCPA impose strict requirements on data storage, access, retention, and auditability. Yet, many organizations still treat compliance as an afterthought leading to costly retrofits, governance gaps, and increased risk exposure.
