Abstract

This work studies the topic of metaphorization in expressions with hydronym content. Hydronyms, that is, terms related to water, reflect many meanings related to human emotions, thoughts and social relationships. The process of metaphorization allows hydronyms to be used as a means of enriching and expressing imagination. The analyzed expressions show the use of hydronyms in various contexts, the differences between their direct meaning and metaphorical meanings. Also, the expression of human psychology, culture and social relations through metaphors studied with the help of hydronyms is shown, and the role of such expressions in written and oral speech is analyzed. This research provides a deeper understanding of the lexical and metaphorical role of expressions with hydronym content.
